Flickr Send to Blog; Wordpress

Posted by Mark Scanlon on Oct 22, 2008 in Flickr

If you’re trying to get flickr to integrate with your wordpress blog and are receiving the error “The username and password you entered were not valid.” like I was today; It’s not a problem with flickr or with wordpress. It’s just a issue with your wordpress settings.

The solution is:

  1. Log into your wordpress settings page.
  2. Navigate to your “Writing” settings page.
  3. About half way down this settings page is the option for “XML-RPC: Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols.” Check this box and save your settings.

My Most Interesting Photo on Flickr

Posted by Mark Scanlon on Oct 22, 2008 in Flickr

Tunnel Vision, originally uploaded by Mark Scanlon.

This is the most interesting photo I have on flickr. Flickr organises everyone’s photos according to an “interestingness” rating.

There are lots of elements that make something ‘interesting’ (or not) on Flickr. Where the clickthroughs are coming from; who comments on it and when; who marks it as a favorite; its tags and many more things which are constantly changing. Interestingness changes over time, as more and more fantastic content and stories are added to Flickr.
